Get ready for loads of fun at Christchurch, New Zealand – the annual World Buskers Festival kicks off on 19th January and the city turns into one big carnival for ten days. The best Buskers from around the world descend on the Garden City of Christchurch where the streets and squares are transformed into one big stage where jam-packed performance schedules at indoor and outdoor venues take place. Circus performances, music gigs, comedy shows and other entertainment make sure you will laugh your guts out and have the time of your life. So come prepared for a BIG party - the residents of Christchurch pride themselves on being party animals and are gracious hosts - they will welcome you with open arms to take part in the celebrations. About World Buskers Festival

The Christchurch World Buskers Festival is actually owned by the Christchurch City Council and produced and organised by the World Buskers Festival Trust. This International Festival showcases one of the biggest and well-known street shows in the city. This event transforms the whole city into one big stage which has street performances, musical extravaganzas, and dance shows. So get ready to be thrilled and enjoy the world’s best street and stage performers arrive transform the town into fun central.


Venues

Usually the two main venues of the festival are at The Press Club and The Inflatable (two dome venues). You can book your seats to the shows by either online or head to the festival venue and book the tickets from WBF Bookings Booths. The festival strictly follows the first some served policy. Spaces are strictly limited so make sure to line up early.


Tips for the Festival

Shows at the dome venues have various age restrictions. Therefore don’t forget to carry the age proof or ID. All the day shows are free to attend, however the performers can ask you for some donation at the completion of their performance.

Many of the night shows free of cost. So simply walk in early to ensure you get good seats – and remember to bring cash for your performers. The performers appreciate tips.

Each weekend a Solid Energy BUSKER BUS is available to bring people into the festival from the suburbs for free. Departing from areas such as Sumner, Lyttelton, Linwood, Shirley and Avonside, the buses will leave from the same place each day and return you to those same spots in the afternoon.


How to reach Christchruch

You can reach Christchurch easily as it is well connected by bus, air and rail service. The city is well connected by buses and ferries to almost every place in the country. New Zealand is well connected to different countries via international flights and domestic airlines connect Christchurch to the rest of New Zealand. The rail network across the island is good.
