When: 20 June - 1 July 2018 Where: Edinburgh, Scotland
Traditionally held in the month of August, the Edinburgh International Film Festival now takes place in the month of June each year for a period of ten days. The festival is an internationally important event and also a podium for the promising practitioners in the field of cinema.
Established in 1947, the festival delivers a range of feature-length films and documentaries as well as shorts, animations and music videos along with fiction films and experimental work from across the world. The festival aims to present both UK and international movie premieres and to exhibit the work of film-makers.
While The Illusionist, a nostalgic animation aptly set largely in Edinburgh, will be the opening film at the Festival Theatre presenting the work of Sylvain Chomet, Third Star, directed by newcomer Hattie Dalton, will end the Edinburgh International Film Festival.
