As far as eating out is concerned, San Francisco is the land of plenty. You can choose from the vast repertoire of ethnic eateries in the city -- the Mission district offers inexpensive and filling Mexican fare, North Beach has good Italian eateries, Japantown and Chinatown for cuisine from Asia and Fisherman's Wharf for seafood, especially clam chowder.
