History
Swabhumi which means “my own land” is located on the natural hillock and adjacent to Subhas Sarovar Lake. This colorful heritage plaza is considered to be the one of the best in the eastern India. One can find the rich collections of artistic and craft treasures here as Swabhumi Heritage Park displays different arts, crafts, heritage and culture from various parts of India. The main focus of these collections is Bengali heritage.
The visitors can trace the roots of the civilizations along with exquisite arts and crafts which had evolved since time immemorial. The entire site is divided into four sections namely Sambhar, Santhusti, Meenabazar and Sabhaghar.
At Sambhar visitors can watch the colorful performances and also buy various herbal and health products. Moving ahead towards Santhusti, visitors can savour exotic cuisines and dishes at various restaurants of this section. One can indulge in some heritage shopping and apply mehendi and tattoo at Meenabazaar. Visitors can also plan a party or celebrate their special occasion at Sabhaghar section of the Swabhumi Heritage Park.
Visitors can also take a walk through the displays of famous works and schools of paintings like Madhubani and Gond paintings, Dokhra crafts and designer garments by famous fashion houses of India. Kantha stitch sari, block print sari, wooden carvings and various other items can be bought from here. So visit the Swabhumi Heritage Park and soak yourself in its rich and varied environment.
