Nicco Park

History

Known as one of the largest amusement parks in Kolkata, Nicco Park is situated in the Salt Lake City. The park was established in the year 1991 and has a total of 33 rides. It offers a number of dry rides and in the Wet-O-Wild section one can enjoy splashing in the pool and can have a fun time, enjoying the water rides. The other attractions include MiG 21, the fighting aircraft which after being decommissioned by the Indian Air force has been on display at the park. There is also a tableau of horse, and as you go near it, it will take you by surprise and start hopping. You can enjoy the panorama view of the park from the top of the replica of Eiffel Tower.

The park has in store different rides, slides and swings for different age groups. Some of its rides include Twist and Turn, Cyclone and Water Chute amongst others. The Twist and Turn will swirl you to such an extent that you will definitely get the feel of clothes being spun in the washing machine. Cyclone is a wooden roller coaster with a track of 750 meter. The rotating motion of the coaster car will not be ordinary and will give you an ultimate electric experience. In Water Chute, the car would splash in the water adding to your journey of thrill. You can also try the Water Coaster that provides you with two straight and one curved slide that will zip you down 75 meters in just 7 seconds. The park also provides with an artificial wave pool and waterfall for the visitors.

You can enjoy swinging in the Pirate Ship and Flying Saucer. Kids can go for Family Carousel having 64 horses of different size with a rotating base and get the feel of riding a horse. There is a special Toy Train for children; you can elongate your moments of merriment, swinging in the Merry-go-Round. In Striking Cars section, hit your car into another one’s car and feel the wonderful moments of joy while driving according your own whims and desires, refrain from all rules and regulations. If that is not enough for you, then go for Bumping Boat, it has a floating tube of water with a car-like steering, so bump into each other’s boat and enjoy the moments of pleasure.

You can go for paddling boats in artificial lake, enjoy the sight of the park in the Cable Cars – eight-seater gandolas high up in the sky. If you want to relax for a while then go for the Lazy River Ride, in which your raft will be transported in a canal for 10 minutes. There is also a Children’s Park where kids can play with their friends and have a great time. You can give a treat to your taste buds at Food Park in Nicco, which is a multi-cuisine restaurant. The place is visited by a number of people, especially during vacations and weekends.

Best time to visit

The park can be visited and enjoyed throughout the year, in case you want to escape the crown avoid visiting it during vacations or weekends.

Trivia

The park literally prepares Iceland once in a year during winters! A land of ice is prepared on which two snow machines scatter snowflakes from a height of 20feet. The temperature of this artificial Iceland is set at 10 degrees. The fun slides at the corners of this ice land will roll you down in the thick layer of ice on the floor giving the everlasting moments of pleasure.

Timing

The park is open from 11:00 am till 9:00 pm on all days.
