Jageshwar Travel Guide

An important tourist destination of Kumaon region – Jageshwar is a religious town that boasts of more than 100 temples dedicated to Lord Shiva. Positioned at an elevation of 1,870mts above sea level, Jageshwar is situated amongst the dense forest of deodar with a stream flowing in its backyard. The thick forest of deodar trees and the Jata Ganga that meanders its way into the temple complex adds on to the beauty of Jageshwar. Interestingly there are temples dedicated to Child Shiva and Old Shiva. The main temple in the temple complex is dedicated to ‘Baal Jageshwar’ or the Child Shiva and the other temple dedicated to ‘Vridh Jageshwar’ or the Old Shiva, which is situated on the higher slopes.
