History of Ooty

The British really knew how to pick destinations with a salubrious climate to get away from the heat and dust of the Indian plains. To them must go the credit of building the finest hill stations in India and Ooty is certainly no exception! Since the climate -rain and all- was similar to their homeland Britain, the Britishers made this little town in the Nilgiris their haven of escape when the heat got too much for them. And today we are reaping the benefits!
