History
Black Thunder is a thrilling amusement park located at Mettupalayam some 40 kms from Coimbatore in Tamil Nadu. Situated at the foothills of the Nilgiris with a perfect shelter of dense trees, this place offers a cool atmosphere for visitors. The park has a total of 49 rides, including numerous exciting ones.
Apart from having fun in the adventurous water rides, you may simply jump, swim, float and relax in the water the entire day. Some of the most loved water slides of the park include Shot Gun Slide and Cannon Ball Slide. The former is a half open slide, in which the person is splashed into the pool like a gunshot, and in the latter, experience the thrill in the darkness, sliding in a tube and finally reaching the deep end of the pool.
You can experience the excitement of white water rafting in the Wild River Ride or can enjoy dancing in the waves of the Wave Pool. If you are not an adventure freak or just want a little rest after a number of slides, then you can float in the artificial lake present in the park. You can enjoy boating or have fun while riding a horse by the lake side.
Want to serve your adrenal glands without getting wet? Try some dry rides that include Columbus and Torra-Torra amongst others. Kids can enjoy the colourful Toy Train or the Caterpillar ride.
The park has a number of restaurants serving multiple cuisines to satisfy your taste buds. After having your lunch you may participate in a number of other recreational and leisure activities. Best time to visit
To beat the heat during summers, many people visit the park from May till September. The park remains crowded during these months. In case you want to escape the crowd the best time to visit is during winter months, from October till March, when the weather is pleasant and the park is less crowded.
