The Municipal Corporation of Madras settled in the building in the year 1913, with PL Moore as its then president.
The Ripon Building is characterised by its white façade, located as it is near the Central station in Chennai. With a span of over 85 meters in length and 32 metres in width, the building is rectangular in shape, occupying an area of 2800 square metres.
