History
Lake Thunakadavu is a beautiful water feature with remarkable lush green forests surrounding it, which has been formed by the Parambikulam Dam in Parambikulam Wildlife Sanctuary. Otters playing on the water surface are a common sighting at the Lake Thunakadavu. One can also see numerous crocodiles near the water’s edge and owing to these crocodiles the lake is not safe for swimming. However one can go boating in the lake to explore the area. Since the lake is in a remote part of the sanctuary it is advisable to hire a jungle jeep to travel to the Thunakadavu Lake.
