History

A small tribal village, Thusharagiri, located in the Kozhikode district of Kerala is well known for its mesmerising and captivating waterfalls – Thusharagiri Waterfalls.

From the Western Ghats two streams originate that unite to form River Chalippuzha. The river then divides into three fascinating waterfalls. Thenpara Falls being the highest among the three runs down from a height of 75 m. ‘Thusharagiri’ means ‘mountains covered with snow.’ Quite popular among the trekkers and rock climbers, the place has an extensive plantation of rubber, areca nut, pepper, ginger and spices. Thusharagiri is known for its wildlife too.

Best time to visit

September to November is the best time to visit the Thusharagiri Waterfalls.

Trivia

Thusharagiri Waterfalls never dry out, all through the year. However, due to heavy rains in the month of June, the terrain becomes unfit for trekking, resulting which the officials prohibit the area during that period with chains.

Timing

There are no particular timings for visiting the waterfalls.
