History
Visvesvaraya Industrial and Technological Museum is dedicated to engineer-statesman Sir M.Visvesvaraya. It is an exquisite science gallery which is not only informative but it is also knowledge driven.
Different floors of the museum exhibit different aspects of science and technology. The museum has various galleries like Popular Science Gallery, Kimbe Paper Metals Gallery, Children's Science Gallery, Electronic Technology Gallery and Engine Hall Gallery. Engine Hall houses various automobiles, machines used in industries, a jet aircraft engine and other mechanical devices. One can operate these engines by pressing the switch provided right next to the exhibit. In Children’s Science Gallery, kids can enjoy by performing real life experiments like formation of tornado, Bernoulli’s Principle, Water Motion, Music in Air and many others. One can learn the basic principles of electricity at Electronic Technology Gallery and understand the science behind the generation of electricity. Explore the world of rocket science and space at the Space Gallery. Apart from these halls, the museum houses Biotechnology Hall which exhibits basics of biotechnology and its application. Popular Science Gallery houses model of Pyramids, time pieces across the ages, an original model of Morse code and portraits of famous mathematicians.
The ground floor of the museum has moving replica of Spinasaurous. At regular intervals 3D Films and show called “Taramandal” are showcased inside the museum. The museum has two exhibition halls that displays of all that which is manufactured in Karnataka. Visvesvaraya Industrial and Technological Museum attracts more than 1 billion visitors every year.
