History
Shiva Temple, also known as Pahari Mandir is located at 2140 feet on the Ranchi hills. The temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva. At the foot of these hills is a beautiful lake which was dug by a British colonel in 1842. The entire temple area is surrounded by beautiful trees which gives a post card view of the place. One can reach the temple by climbing some 300 steps.
The temple holds its association with the great freedom fighters of India.
The place is also known as Phasi Tongri as lots of freedom fighters were hanged to death at this place. Devotees visit the place to show their gratitude to Lord Shiva and seek his blessings in return. A bird’s view of the whole Ranchi city is possible from the temple premises and the view is really an enchanting eye pleasing experience.
Experience the beauty of nature at Shiva Temple and take back home some fond memories of this place.
