History
Ranchi Hill is one of the popular tourist attractions in Ranchi, located at a height of 2140 feet above sea level. The site attracts visitors every year, from various parts of the country.
The hill top offers a panoramic view of the town and the surroundings, where a temple devoted to Lord Shiva is also situated. The Shiva Temple is an added attraction of the place and a sacred place for the devotees who gather at the temple to worship the deity during Shravanmas. It is during the occasion of Sravan Mela, which is a major event in Ranchi; the place is swarmed by Hindu devotees.
At the foot of the Ranchi Hill is a lake, known as Ranchi Lake, which enhances the beauty of the place further more. The site acts as a popular picnic spot for the local people of the region. The best time to visit Ranchi Hill is from October to May, when the temperatures and humidity are low and the weather is pleasant. Owing to its sub-tropical climate and relatively high altitude, Ranchi can be visited throughout the year, with the exception of June, July and August.
