History
One of the biggest natural lakes in Haryana, Damdama Lake of Sohna is a well-known picnic spot amongst the tourists, located at a distance of 45 km from Delhi. The Aravalli hills providing a perfect backdrop attract a number of people to enjoy the scenic beauty around this lake. Spotted amidst a vast green land the heavenly ambience around Damdama Lake attracts a number of birds to rest here, mainly during winters. The sight is a complete treat for birdwatchers and ornithologists, as over 190 species of birds can be seen in and around this lake.
Adventure enthusiasts can go trekking, angling, nature walks or can enjoy sailing in various kinds of boats like kayaks, motor, paddle and row boats on Damdama Lake. Other than this you may also enjoy sailing high in a hot air balloon. The list doesn’t end here, the local agents also organise various recreational and adventure activities near the lake. You can gauge your skills in rock climbing while climbing the difficult terrains of the Aravallis, valley crossing (also known as river crossing), Commando Net and Monkey Crawl.
End the day by being a part of a wonderful bonfire by the lake side. A number of resorts are also available near Damdama Lake. Haryana Tourism Corporation Limited has also set up a number of cottages facing the lake. The perfect ambience will rejuvenate your senses, gifting you a calm night.

It is advised to visit the lake anytime between October and March when the weather remains pleasant.

Trivia
Burma Bridge at Damdama Lake is a favourite amongst visitors. This bridge is made up of ropes and is a little shaky. One has to cross the bridge by holding ropes and maintaining balance. For safety purposes a harness is tied to attempters in order to avoid injuries.
