What to Pack
Casual wear does just fine for most places as the average Australian is pretty laid back. So keep the clothes informal unless on a business trip. In summer, from October to April, carry lightweight clothes; always carry a hat and wear sunblocks with high SPF when in Sydney as the sun and UV radiation can get very intense.
All other general items like medicines, camera films, toiletries and cosmetics are easily available in any of the common international brands but do carry prescription medicines and the prescription, spare pair of prescription spectacles and a very comfortable pair of shoes as you’ll be doing a lot of footslogging. Winter months require heavier warm clothes and inland areas can get really cold. Beachwear is for the beaches, so carry your swimming togs along as well as sunscreens and suntan lotion – all of which you can replenish as you use them up.
