Europe snowbound, leaves travellers stranded

February 06, 2012

In the wake of adverse weather conditions affecting the whole of Europe, five flights scheduled for India from London were cancelled on Sunday. Although the airport resumed its normal operations from Monday, February 6, 2012, there are lots of flights delays and cancellations as the airport is running on reduced capacity. The Heathrow Airport Authority cautioned travellers scheduled to travel in the forthcoming days and they are requested to check their flight status before travelling to avoid last minute chaos and are also advised to give themselves buffer time to reach the airport. This apart, transportation has also been badly affected as trains were cancelled and vehicles were stuck on motorways. While Heathrow Airport has resumed its normal operations, Greece and Bosnia have declared state of emergency as the cold spell continues.
