The town of Shirdi in Maharashtra, once home to the saint Sai Baba who lived here for eighty long years, is now a major pilgrimage centre. Known for being one of the richest shrines in the world, Tirupati in Andhra Pradesh attracts thousands of devotees everyday and is dedicated to Sri Venkateswara. Visit the city of Amritsar for its Golden Temple, the holiest of Sikh shrines. Vatican City in Rome houses the famous sacred St. Peter’s Basilica which is designed in typical Renaissance architecture. Jerusalem is a significant holy city for Muslims, Jews and Christans.
