Labor Day
When: 3rd September 2012
Where: USA
The first Monday in September is Labor Day in the United States of America.
Carrying forward a tradition that began in 1882, trade unions and labor organisations across the country pay tribute to the workforce and the working class that built a strong and prosperous America.
The rest of the world honours the working class with parades, rallies and marches, America sensibly climbs into cars, campervans and station wagons and heads off for a long weekend far, far away from .....perish the thought...... work!
The Labor Day holiday happily coincides with the end of summer - the last chance to picnic, cookout, camp, fish and wallow in the summer heat before the weather breaks.
