Hyderabad, with its regal history with Nizams ruling since the 17th century is a beautiful and bustling city. The urban metropolis has a number of tourist spots within the lines. For those travel happy Hyderabadis who want to reach out to different options during the weekends, Hyderabad has several options nearby. Here are some of the best places to visit around Hyderabad.

Mahabubnagar
Earlier known as Palamoor, Mahabubnagar got its name after a former Nizam of Hyderabad. The town is a legendary source of Golconda diamonds and has a number of historic sites situated in and around it. This makes Mahabubnagar a perfect place for weekend getaways from Hyderabad. The attractions surrounding the area include Alampur, Srirangapur and Umamaheshwaram. A family picnic in the heart of Nallama where a waterfall named Mallelatheertham is perfect plan for weekend breaks from Hyderabad.

Nagarjunasagar
Look forward to a panoramic scenery around one of the tallest dams constructed on river Krishna. There is lake created by the dam which is the third largest manmade lake. This is one of the most famous tourist place near Hyderabad. When there yyou can reach the nagarjuna Konda, the ancient Buddist excavations in the middle of the waters by a boat. The monsoon season at Nagarjunasagar is flocked by a number of visitors. During this time of the year, all the dam gates are opened and it creates a splendid view of water falling through 26 gates.

Gulbarga
Once a part of Hyderabadi Nizam’s dynysty, Gulbarga has many shrines and domes that are built in Islamic style. The place has many attractions like Gulbarga’s Old Fort, Jama Masjid, of grand tombs of Bahmani kings, Khaja Bande Nawaz and Sharana Basaveshwara Temple. Once there you should also visit the Chandrampalli Dam that is constructed over River Bhima. Near the dam there is an island that offers sports like camping and trekking. A hanuman temple on the top of the hill adjoining the island is also a famous tourist attraction.
