Caribbean Magic, Mystery and Inspiration in Cuba

September 26, 2014

Cuba is a nation of culture, a nation of history and a nation of fun. It is made up of one main island, as well as the Isla de la Juventud (Island of Youth) and smaller archipelago. Its diversity, its ecosystem and its thriving nightlife, make it a great destination for an unforgettable holiday.

For centuries, the sights and sounds of the island have been the muse of great people and artists. Ernest Hemingway took refuge in its shores for three years and wrote classics like “The Old Man and the Sea” and “Islands in the Stream”

But what makes this island such a source of inspiration? A Cuban city is composed of colonial architecture that gives a nostalgic feeling to every step you take. It’s a place with modern commodities that still seems stuck in an era gone by, creating a unique environment that you cannot find anywhere else in the world.

Cuba’s 5,476 km of coast line are covered in great ports, amazing beaches and incredible experiences. Havana is a city of culture and nightlife. Historical buildings that have seen their fair share of adventures are surrounded by trendy cafes, restaurants, shops and shows. You’ll always find something to do in the city, at any time, day or night.

Santiago de Cuba is a city surrounded by luscious jungles and other natural wonders that you need to see to believe. Wear some comfortable sneakers and walk the roads of a city that has a memory on every corner and an adventure in every street. For example,“Parque de Baconao” (Baconao Park) offers mountains to climb, beaches to enjoy and even a space dedicated to natural historic and the age when dinosaurs ruled the earth.

If you are a fan of spirits, don’t miss the opportunity to visit one of the many distilleries that Cuba has to offer. Some of the best rum in the world is made in the Island and there is nothing like drinking it, fresh out of the barrel.

For truly astonishing natural marvels, Cienfuegos is the place to go. In this port you’ll find a relaxing beach, a dolphin sanctuary, waterfalls that will take your breath away and a peaceful lagoon ideal for swimming and recharging your batteries.

For hiking lovers, don’t miss the opportunity to visit the rugged mountains of Holguin. The area was described as “The most beautiful land eyes have ever seem” when it was first discovered by Christopher Columbus back in 1492, and more than 500 years later, it’s still a sight to beyond, a trail to walk and an adventure to be had.

Cuba moves at its own pace. It’s a relaxed and quiet country that you need time to enjoy. If you want to visit this pearl of the Caribbean you have to do it at your own pace as well, plus there is so much to see. Why not charter a yacht, sail the seas of this wonderful nation and catch a bit of that inspiration that’s gotten to so many of history’s finest.
