City like can get pretty hectic, and time flies past before you know it. Tired of the daily grind? Here are five weekend getaways from Chandigarh for you to explore.

Morni Hills: If you are looking for a quick escape, Morni Hills is only 40 km away, and one of the best places to visit near Chandigarh. It should take you about an hour to drive down to this little hill station in Haryana. With its wooded, hilly terrain, Morni Hills offers a rich variety of flora and fauna, and opportunities for the more adventurous to go trekking, rock climbing and so on. Bird watchers and wildlife enthusiasts are also sure to have a great time here.

Kasauli: If you are looking for a relatively quiet tourist place near Chandigarh, Kasauli is your best bet. Located in the Solan district of Himachal Pradesh, the little town is 65 km from Chandigarh. Kasauli is home to the Baptist Church and Christ Church that showcase colonial architecture. Other popular attractions include the Nahri Temple, as well as Monkey Point, from where you can see Chandigarh on a clear day.

Parwanoo: This little known hill station offers one of the most refreshing weekend breaks from Chandigarh. Also located in the Solan district of Himachal Pradesh, Parwanoo is set in the Shivalik hills. One of the most popular attractions here is the Timber Trail, which offers a cable car ride through the Shivalik hills. You can also plan day trips to other popular hill stations nearby, like Kalka, Dagshai, etc.

Shimla: One of the most popular Chandigarh weekend getaways, Shimla is thronged with visitors during peak season. And this is no surprise, because this scenic hill station has lots to offer. Gorgeous views of snow capped peaks and charming colonial architecture make the hill station quite unlike any other. The most popular tourist attraction here is obviously the Mall, which has little shops and eating joints to keep you busy for hours.

Nahan: The pretty town of Nahan is one of the best places to visit around Chandigarh. The town overlooks green hills of the Shivalik range. Head to Renuka Lake for some boating and a visit to the zoo. You can also check out Trilokpur Temple, Shakumbhri Devi Temple (near Saharanpur) and Gurudwara Paonta Sahib (between Nahan and Dehradun). Also, don’t miss a visit to the nearby Suketi Fossil Park.

So that’s our list of tourist places around Chandigarh. Get out there and get exploring!
