Sneak Preview

Endowed with pristine white sand beaches, archipelagos and mountains, Nha Trang isn’t called the ‘Riviera of the South China Sea’ for nothing. The coastal city of Nha Trang is situated in Khanh Hoa province and is 1,278km from Hanoi, and 448km from Ho Chi Minh City. The 7 km stretch of white sand beach of Nha Trang is often described as ‘Vietnam’s Mediterranean Area’ and is believed to be one of the jewels of Vietnam.

The seaside resort- town is becoming increasingly popular amongst tourists attracting a large number of backpackers as well as more prosperous travellers from Southeast Asia, thus making Nha Trang into a must-visit destination and deservedly, so.

Nha Trang is always abuzz with activity and has something for every kind of traveller: the adventurer, the contemplative, the playful, the water baby, the beach girl, the indulgent, the affluent and the nomad are certain to submit to the sinful pleasures of this heavenly town. In this ever-changing city, the only constant is its ability to make people surrender to its charms. The allure of Nha Trang is contagious and once you are here, going back becomes

but just an option.

Nha Trang, owing to its numerous scuba diving sites and options is also famously known as “The Scuba diving Center of Vietnam”.

This beautiful coastal city of Vietnam was the official venue for the 57th Miss Universe pageant that took place in 2008 in the Diamond Bay Resort of Nha Trang.

Nha Trang Bay, on which this stunning town is located, has been recognized as one of the 29 beautiful bays of the world.

Even though the corals in this resort town aren’t as famous as the ones in Australia, the 350 different species of coral reefs found here are sure to take your breath away.

Historically Speaking

Looking at the vibrancy of Nha Trang, it’s nearly impossible to envision that it was once a deserted area, consisting of nothing more than a few fishing villages. Its history dates back to 1653, during the rule of Cham Empire, when Bà Tam, the Cham ruler, made a pact of peaceful surrender with Lord Nguyen Phúc Tan, after being defeated by the Marquis of Hùng Loc. The Cham ruler gave a stretch of land between the Eastern side of Phan Rang River and Phú Yên, to Lord Nguyen Phúc Tan who in turn, split that land into two countries of Thái Khang and Diên Ninh with 5 districts.

The invasion by French Indochina in the 20th century led to the transformation of Nha Trang from being an area almost devoid of human population to a townlet. In 1937, the Governor- General of French Indochina decreed Nha Trang from being a townlet to a town. Nha Trang was finally established as the capital of Khanh Hoa Province in the year 1970 when the government of the Republic of Vietnam removed it from the status of a rural commune to that of a town. It attained the status of a city in 1977 due to the decision of the Council of the Government.

It retained its earlier status of the capital of Khanh Hoa Province even after the province was split from Phu Khanh Province in 1989. Finally in 1999, Nha Trang was recognized as the second class municipal city by the Prime Minister of Vietnam.
