The festivals of Vietnam provide an insight to an outsider in the cultures and beliefs of the people of this country. All year round, some or the other festival befalls as per Vietnamese Lunar Calendar, baring Vietnam's culture for all to see. Although, the list of festivals in this ancient country is quite long, some events which shouldn't be missed are as follows:
Tet Festival which takes place anywhere between late January to early February is the much celebrated Vietnamese Lunar New Year, lasting for three days, every year. The new year is welcomes with open arms and families revel in each others company during these holidays.
The Lim Festival is celebrated in honour of Ba Mu, a woman of Noi Due Village who ended drought in the village. It takes place in the month of February annually in Lim, which is 18 Km from Hanoi.
National Day in September is the perfect event to witness patriotic fervour in the country of Vietnam, which doesn't exactly has a lot of national holidays.
Tet Trung Thu or Mid-autumn Festival which befalls in the month of September, is a favourite with children. On this day, folklores are narrated by parents to their little ones and traditional dances are performed by kids for their parents.
The perfume Pagoda Festival, The Mam Ngu Qua, Cau Ngu festival, Nui Ba Festival and Do Son Buffalo Fighting Festival are other important festivals in Vietnam.
