History
The majestic Lake of Tahoe is situated at a distance of 200 miles from the city of San Francisco and lies across the California/ Nevada border. The peaceful environs of Lake Tahoe have both- nature lovers and aventure buffs. The sparkling waters of the Lake offer fun filled exciting water activities- sailing, canoeing, kayaking, boating, angling and much more. As much as people come here to enjoy the thrilling water activities, they also take pleasure in the adventure activities on land- hiking, biking and golfing. The snowfall in Tahoe is heavy in winters and this makes way for skiing, ice skating, snowshoeing and snow sledging with its world class alpine ski resorts.
The Lake is famous not only for its summer and winter adventure activities but also for the wide variety of flora and fauna. Forming a part of the Sierra nevada Mountains, the Lake Tahoe Bassin is home to over 300 animals and birds along with 1000 plants, trees and wildflowers- Cedar, Aspen, Jeffrey Pine, White Fir, and Sugar Pine, Snow Flower, California and Mariposa Lily, Indian Paintbrush, Sulphur Flowers and Mountain Blue Ears. You will also find some of the rare species here like Sierra Red Fox, Grizzly Bear, Lahontan Cutthroat Trout along with the Mountain beaver.
