How to Get to Koh Samui by Air Koh Samui is 560 km from Bangkok and 80 km from Surat Thani. You can fly to Koh Samui from Bangkok (1 hour) or take a ferry from Surat Thani. The ferry from Don Sak pier of Surat Thani to Thong Yang pier of Koh Samui takes about 1-½ hours. Buses carry passengers over the ferry, taking you from Bangkok or Na Thong straight to Koh Samui.

Getting Around Koh Samui Hire a car or a motorbike and get around the island. Its the best way, but while driving on Koh Samui, you will have to be very careful as there is a high accident rate on the island.
