How to get there by Air
Taiwan has two international airports - one at Taoyuan (near Taipei), and the other at Kaohsiung. Both are served by a number of airlines that connect them to destinations across North America, Africa, Europe and Asia. City-airport shuttle buses, taxis and cars rented from rental companies at the airport are available for the ride to the city centre.

How to get there by Sea
You can get to Taiwan from Japan on any one of the regular ferries to Keelung and Kaohsiung from Okinawa and also from Macau, which is connected to Kaohsiung.

Getting Around
All the major cities of Taiwan are connected by domestic airlines (there are seven of them), as well as by trains and express buses. Both trains and long distance buses can be quite convenient, and buses especially are fairly reasonable.
Within cities, buses and taxis can be used, but probably the most convenient way of getting around is to hire a car. There are a number of local and international car rental companies in the country, and hiring a car (with or without a chauffeur) isn’t too difficult.
