Parts of the old city with its baroque architecture are delightfully quaint. Valencia’s museums rate as among the best in the region. The city itself is rather crowded – a sordid example of modern urbanisation at its unsavoury best; but there are plenty of charming spots that will make your visit interesting. Put Valencia on your itinerary simply to get a feel of Mediterranean Spain - with its oranges and lemons, its wines and seafood, its beach resorts and tiny villages.
