| | Festivals and Events in Balearic Islands |

The Balearic Islands are chockfull of interesting events- all through the year, and especially during the summer months, there’s something happening virtually every day and every night. On Ibiza, much of this consists of music concerts- with major artistes and rock stars from across the world performing live- but if you want to see more traditional festivals, Mallorca and Menorca are the places to go.
Mallorca invariably kicks off the year with a vibrant carnival- featuring a rather jazzy parade- in February, and has processions, secular and religious, throughout the year, especially during Easter week and on Ascension Day. Other than that, there are ship processions (in port towns) on June 29, followed up by a huge agricultural fair and market in Inca during November.
Menorca, as compared to Mallorca, has fewer events, but they’re worth a look if you’re around at the time. Best known of all of Menorca’s events are the equine festivals on the island- one in Sant Luís (in August) and the other in Ciutadella (in June). Both are dominated by skill riders and are great fun to watch.
