PortugalWhere to Stay in Portugal |
|
| |
|
The choice for finding places to stay is many in Portugal. Especially in cities like Lisbon, Oporto and Madeira Islands. You will find luxury and deluxe hotels of world class standards and charming resorts.
But if you are watching prices, the bright side of Portugal’s not-so-booming economy is its low lodging expenses – among the lowest in Europe. Besides, there are also family-run pensions, country or manor houses, hotels or pousadas, renovated castles or mansions being run as budget hotels.
The most affordable and exceedingly popular form of accommodation in Portugal for the average tourist is the pensions – which are also rated between one to four stars. Private showers may or may not be available, depending on the price. Don’t expect air-conditioning here unless you are staying in the crème de la crème of pensions.
As a general rule, always inspect your accommodation before signing and paying up.
