You will not leave here without adding something new to your wardrobe. Pieter Cornelisz( P.C) Hooftstraat is Amsterdam’s answer to Fifth Avenue, here you will find high end designers from all over the world.
If your interest lies in antiques the best place to head to is the Spiegelkwartier, where you’ll find plenty of antique shops selling exquisite art, books, furniture, Delftware and many more priceless items. Do not forget your porcelain shopping – there are items ranging from those found at local markets to the affordable new tiles and expensive Delft platters at renowned stores.
The market culture is very popular in Amsterdam and in the Antiekmarkt De Looier you will find stalls selling everything from expensive artifacts to cheap bric-a-brac. In summer an art market is held on Sundays at Spui. and Thorbeckeplien where you can pick up watercolours and etchings from the local artists. If flowers are your passion, don’t miss the flower market at Bloemenmarkt.
Be sure to spend some time at the Waterloopleinmarkt, one of the most fascinating flea markets in Europe. Shop for trendy clothes and funky jewellery, rummage the book shops for a bargain find, explore the interesting little shops and find trinkets to take back home. Located just behind the Town Hall, this massive flea market is open six days a week and should definitely be on your must visit list!
