| Keukenhof Gardens, Lisse |

History
Tulips and Holland go together, and if tulips are on your mind, head to Keukenhof, arguably the biggest tulip garden in the world! A short distance away from Amsterdam lies Lisse where the Keukenhof gardens are located. Viewing the beautiful gardens of colourful tulip fields, today its hard to imagine that Keukenhof started off as a kitchen garden sometime in the 15th century. Finally in the 20th century some of the Dutch flower cultivators got together and zeroed in on Lisse to showcase their flowers. Lisse today is profusion of colour: daffodils, narcissi, orchids and of course tulips bloom in the 70 acre gardens. Keukenhof has been landscaped well and contains Japanese gardens, sculptures and a sprinkling of windmills too for good effect.
Keukenhof is a kaleidoscope of colour and simply beautiful!
