Eating Out in Marrakech

From food stalls to gourmet restaurants, Marrakech has the whole range, so whether you decide to pamper your taste buds or just have a quick tasty snack, you will be spoilt for choice.

The medina and Bab Doukkala hides the most delicious secrets in its winding streets city and is one of the best places in the country to go on an eating binge. The hub of the city – Place Djemaa el-Fna features row upon row of open-air food stalls. There are also some great patisseries stocking French pastries and ice-cream parlours here, especially in the ville nouvelle.

Among the best restaurants which serve international cuisines, Catanzaro located in Rue tarik Ben Ziad offers lip smacking Italian food. One must try here is pasta. Key West is another name to suggest in this category.

If however you are looking for typical Moroccan food the options here in Marrakech are plenty. Hotel Ali, Jad Mahal, Jacaranda, Lolo Quoi Restaurant, La Creperie de Marrakech, Sabal, Salam Bombay and Restaurant Argane are some of the restaurants which serves authentic cuisines straight from Moroccan kitchen. The spices and herbs added to the Moroccan dishes adds to its flavour.

If you are in Marrakech you must not miss trying Hahera, a kind of soup usually made of meat but if you are a vegetarian you can also get one made with vegetables. It simply out of the world!

Marrakech’s city centre Djemaa el-Fna is an entertainment hub with various entertainers like acrobats, drummers, dancers, pipe musicians, comedians and storytellers showcasing their talents. Also there is a popular casino Casino de Marrakech to add more pungent to your nightlife. Mamounia Casino, is another name in this list.

The traditional nightlife of the city is centered around the Jma el Fna area. And if you are looking for more modern nightlife you will be best heading towards Gueliz, the new part of the town.

Many ville nouvelle hotels have nightclubs and discotheques, even if they tend to be a little pricey. Some of the popular clubs and discos in the city are Palais des Congres, Le Churchill, Iceberg, Le Byblos, and Pacha.
