Festivals and Events in Morocco

Apart from the various Islamic festivals, the town of Marrakech hosts two very interesting festivals/events – the Festival of Folklore, which hosts some of the best story-telling troupes in Morocco; and the Fantasia, where one can watch charging Berber horsemen on the ramparts. Both festivals are held around June-July, but dates vary, so do check before you leave for Morocco. Around May, one can witness the Mousseum of Sidi Mohammed Ma’a al-Anim, where the famous ‘blue people’ (the Saharan Moors) gather. In Fes the Cherry Festival and the World Sacred Music festival is celebrated in June and very well attended.
