Best Time to Visit Morocco

The cooler months of October to April are very popular with tourists, when temperatures seldom rise above 30°C during the day and the nights are cool at 15°C. There are extra ferry crossings from Europe during this season. However, if you don’t enjoy the rain this is the time to stay away. Summer months in Morocco are unbearably hot, especially the months of May and June.

The best time to visit Morocco weather-wise would be during the spring season in the months of April and May and autumn season in the months of September and October. The weather remains pleasant during this time and it is an amazing experience to explore the country during this time of the year.

Many tourists also take a trip to Morocco during the months of July and August, making it a bit crowded so if you are travelling during this period make sure to book your hotel in advance.

If you are fond of skiing, fix your itinerary between the months of December and March, as this is the peak skiing season here. Morocco is best for trekking during the months of April and September.

Morocco celebrates different festivals all year-round. If you are planning your visit during the month when Ramadan is celebrated, you will be able to grab a huge number of discounts in hotel rates. However, many restaurants and shops either remain closed or change their timings during this time. So if you love eating out you must avoid visiting the country during this time.

Climate

The sheer variety of Morocco’s landscape means that there are vastly different climate zones. In the mountains, especially the High Atlas range, winter temperatures can go well below freezing, and suitable clothing is advised. The coastal regions in the north have warm summers and mild, extremely pleasant winters. The lowlands and the south of the country record daytime summer temperatures as high as 45ºC. The main rainy season runs from November to April. Spring (April-May) and autumn (September-October) are the best times to visit Morocco.
