Best Time to Visit Cancun

The weather in Cancun remains pleasant through most of the year, and there isn’t much of a variation in annual temperature as it barely rises above 35 degree Celsius. The city remains warm and is moderated by onshore winds.

The best time to visit Cancun is during the winter season which occurs during the second half of December till early February. Reason being, in addition to ideal weather conditions, there is also a low footfall from the US, as most people prefer to stay with families during Christmas. Therefore, the beaches are less crowded and the prices of food and accommodation are low, thus providing ample opportunity to strike a better deal during this season.

Cancun celebrates its Carnival during mid February which marks the beginning of Lent. This 5 day carnival hosts various street parades. Mid-February to early April experience increased crowds, due to the thousands of college students who tend to visit Cancun to celebrate their spring break. A word of advice if choosing to travel during the Carnival time – the prices for accommodation and flight tend to escalate, thus advance booking would be beneficial.

Cancun is bliss for water sports lovers. The water activities include water skiing, jet skiing, snorkeling, paragliding, wakeboarding, surfing and lots of other exciting activities. All these sports can be enjoyed round the year except September and October when there is a hurricane threat.

The annual rainfall is around 1,340 mm. The months of April till August are hot and the rainfall in summer is short-lived, hence high humidity levels are experienced. The month of March remains moderate with almost no rainfall.
