Shopping in Acapulco

You can literally shop till you drop in this shopper’s paradise. Acapulco is famous for its chic resort-wear and designer labels, its silver jewelry, leather accessories, fine art and crafts. The city has a dozen fashionable malls and hotel shopping arcades. Or you can do it the Acapulco way by going souvenir hunting through the busy Municipal Market or the Costera. Thankfully, one is no longer plagued by the clamorous beach vendors, after a law that prohibits vending on beaches.

The prices are not fixed and it is quite acceptable to bargain fiercely for jewelry and crafts, bringing down the price by a third. Prices normally cover the 15% sales tax.
