How to Get to Acapulco by Air The Acapulco International Airport is located 22.5 kms southeast of Acapulco Bay and the hotel areas. The airport is tourist friendly and has numerous counters for car rentals, restaurants, bars and shopping arcades, including a good duty-free shop.
There are easily available van transfers, limos and rental cars for airport transfers. It takes about 20-30 minutes to get to the hotel areas, unless you are staying at the Playa Revolcadero area, which is the domain of the Acapulco Princess, Pierre Marques and Vidafel resorts. These areas are only a 10-minute ride from the airport. The cab fare is approximately US$6, depending on where your hotel is located. A four-lane highway called the Boulevard of Nations takes you to town from the airport.
Cruise ships focus a lot on Acapulco as a major destination. Entering the city along well maintained highways has now been streamlined. A highway connects Mexico City and Acapulco in a three and a half hour drive. Toll taxes mount to approximately $23

How to Get to Acapulco by Bus Acapulco ha sits own port where cruise ships and ferries regularly travel. Cruising is the most convenient way to get to the destination. Acapulco has the cruise ship terminal very close to Fort San Diego, within easy reach of the Zócalo.
You can get to Acapulco either by air or be ferry.

Getting Around Acapulco Within Acapulco, you can get around easily in taxis. The taxis do not have meters but stick to a fixed point-to-point fare. Hotel lobbies normally display this information. It is cheaper to hail a taxi off the road than to take a hotel cab. You could of course be completely independent and rent a car.
The bus service along the Costera or main boulevard, is regular and very inexpensive, with a standard fare of 2 pesos. If you are tempting adventure and romance, try a calandria, the brilliantly ornamented horse-drawn carriages that trot along the Costera.
