Sightseeing in Mayotte

A good day trek from Mamoudzou would be the route that runs between the villages of Kani-Keli and Chirongui. This will take you up to the summit of Mt Mtsapere (572m) and you have the option of climbing Mt Choungi in the south.

Mayotte has some of the finest beaches in this part of the world. The best known is located on the southwestern tip of the island in Ngoudja . The chocolate coloured beach at Salou also has the unusual sight of an 8m waterfall, Cascade de Salou , cascading directly into the sea. Another great beach to stake out at is Plage Moya.

Visit the Pamandzi Island to see the crater-lake at Dziani Dzaha and the ruins of a 10th century Shirazian settlement at Bagamayo .
