How to get there by Air
The main international airport of Maldives is the Male International Airport located in the Hulhule Island, 2.5 km from the capital. The airport has flights from Delhi, Sri Lanka, Kuala Lumpur and all other major cities of South East Asia.
Airport Facilities
The Finifenma Lounge is on the first floor and has a satellite TV, internet access, and fax and telephone facilities. Refreshments are also served here.
There is a Bank of Maldives located just outside the Arrivals Terminal. You can exchange currency here. Near the entrance of the Departures Hall is a post office and international and national calls can be made from the cash and credit card phones in the Terminal Building.
Wireless internet is available throughout the airport. There are also internet stations and laptop connections at the cyber café for those who don’t have wireless net.
There are many restaurants and cafés on the ground and first floor of the passenger terminal. Shops including duty free can be found on the first floor of the Departures area. The pharmacy is right next to the bank.
A 24 hour lost and found counter is located in the departure lounge. Other facilities include shower areas, emergency rooms, outdoor children’s play area and a prayer room and a mosque.
The Gan Airport at Addu also serves Maldives but it is mostly used by international flights from Milan and by charter flights.

How to get there by Sea
There are no cruises to Maldives and very few private yachts are willing to go there as the duties are prohibitively high and the coral reef difficult to negotiate.

Getting Around
By Air
None of the islands are so big that getting around could be a problem. From Male there are several options for getting to your resort. The national airline flies to 4 major islands and the views are pretty much breathtaking.
There are air taxis run by Maldivian Air Taxi and the Trans Maldivian Airways. No distance is more than 45 minutes from any place.
To go to uninhabited islands you will have to pay an Inter Atoll Travel Permit which has to be issued from the Ministry of Atolls. But if your tours are organised by hotels then a permit is not required.
By Water
Boats are equivalent of cars but are usually for locals. For tourists there are planes and private yachts. Taxi boats take the tourists from one island to the other. Local boats called ‘vedis’ and ‘dhonis’ also operate.
