Nairobi Travel Guide

Nairobi, the capital of Kenya, is a bustling, lively city with a population of around a million, and a cosmopolitan feel. It is an important business, commercial and communications centre and the virtual capital of East Africa. It is the fourth of the UN’s ‘world centres’ and boasts a high concentration of diplomats and administrators. Nairobi has great climate throughout the year, is well equipped with tourist infrastructure, and is convenient for business travellers or those looking to get bureaucratic problems sorted out.

Nairobi is a well-maintained slice of urban and urbane Africa and thus has a distinctive atmosphere that is worth checking out. However, a common complaint about Nairobi is the security hazards one has to deal with, so expect to be on your guard at all times.

Nairobi has been dubbed ‘Nairobbery’ by its citizens due to crime and thefts being rampant. But seriously don’t let that put you off from visiting Nairobi – it’s not that bad!
