Eating Out in Fukuoka

A gastronomic delight, Fukuoka serves up everything from international fare to authentic Japanese cuisine. Infact the Hakata area is known as the culinary capital of Japan. Sample the well known ramen noodles – the Fukuoka tonkotsu ramen noodles are supposed to be the best in the country. Like clockwork, every evening small portable vans called ‘yatais’ that house some great kitchens come out onto the popular hangout areas and whip up everything from ramen noodles to yakitori to tempura. Locals gather around and it is not an unusual sight to see long snake queues waiting to be dished up their favourite food. Visit the Hard Rock café if you are yearning for some good old American burgers or Tex Mex cooking. This Hard Rock is the largest in the world and no different from any other outlet world over.

Hit the hotspots of Fukuoka for a bit of nightlife. The Tenjin area with its lively bars, and Nakasu for its ‘adult nightlife’ are well known and popular with the locals and tourists alike. Other forms of entertainment include the theatre, music clubs and orchestra performances.
