The best time to visit Jerusalem is during its spring and autumn seasons, namely March to May and end September to early November .
Spring in Jerusalem is characterised by warm weather, low rainfall, clear skies and a blossoming landscape. The average maximum temperatures during these months range in the early 20’s, with a slight escalation in May, as temperatures rise to about 26 – 28 degrees Celsius. The autumn months too are regarded as an ideal time to visit Jerusalem, as the weather during these months is pleasant and warm during the days, with the nights being relatively cooler.
Summer in Jerusalem occurs between June to early September. These months witness high temperatures, rising to the early 30 degrees Celsius mark, with no rain and a powerful sun. Despite the hotter temperatures, owing to holidays around Europe, US and other regions, tourists tend to flock towards Jerusalem during these months, making them a peak tourist season. Thus whilst being a good time to visit the city, if looking to avoid the peak summer crowd, these months are best avoided.
Winter in Jerusalem, between mid-November to early March, is a cold, rainy and windy season. January is the coldest month of the year, recording a maximum average of 12 – 14 degrees Celsius with minimum temperatures even falling to freezing point on some days. The maximum rainfall also takes place during these months, and an occasional snowfall is not entirely uncommon. Owing to these extreme conditions these months are regarded as being off-peak season in Jerusalem.
