Where to Stay in Java

As compared to most of Bali, you’ll find relatively little choice when it comes to deciding on place to stay in Java. Although cities like Jakarta and other tourist destinations- especially Yogyakarta and Mount Bromo- have a wide range of accommodation, ranging from luxury hotels like Ritz Carlton to budget hotels, options are rather restricted elsewhere.

In the more popular destinations, like Samarang, Surabaya and Bandung you’ll find accommodation options extending from deluxe accommodation like the Sheraton and Novotel, to small budget hotels. There are also smaller, family-run establishments called `losmen’, which can sometimes entail staying with a family. They’re relatively cheap (but usually comfortable) and can be a good option if you’re on a budget.
