Indonesia, thanks to its high influx of tourists, has had to build up a substantial infrastructure of places to stay. Tourist accommodation is one of the areas they’ve particularly laid a lot stress on and it shows: there’s a wide range of facilities, big and small, cheap and through-the-roof; there are hotels, resorts, and guesthouses spread out all across the major tourist destinations. Remember, however, that most hotels fill up to bursting point during Ramadan (prior to Id, the main Islamic festival), at Christmas and during the summer, when tourists flood Indonesia. If you’re planning to visit the country during this time, it makes sense to book your rooms well in advance, if possible.
