While at Ranikhet you may enjoy the excellent view of the great Himalayan peak of Nanda Devi that stands 7816 m above sea level. Traveller’s can take a walk around the town and its idyllic surroundings. The Jhula Temple, constructed some 400 years back honoring the Goddess Durga, who protected them from man-eating tigers. The other important temple is of Kali Devi, which has a large number of bells tied to the walls by the worshippers in hopes of getting their wishes fulfilled.
For those interested in the region's flora and fruit, a visit to the Chaubatia Orchard is a must. The botanical gardens here feature several exotic flowers, while the government's fruit research institute boasts more than 200 varieties of fruit.
Bhaludham, 3 kms away, is an artificial lake, set near the Kosi River and is a great spot for picnic and even foe fishing.
Upat Kalika, 4 kms from Ranikhet and on the main road to Almora is an ideal spot to admire snow capped Himalayan peaks and also has a nine-hole golf course.
