Sightseeing in Bhimtal includes visit to the main attraction the Bhimtal Lake. At one end of the lake there is a dam and at the other end, about 100 meters there is a pretty little island. Boating is a popular activity on the lake.
The Bhimeshwara Mahadev temple stands on the banks of the Bhimtal Lake and according to legend in Mahabharata the temple was built by the mighty Bhima when the Pandavas were in exile.
Garg Parvat, also known as Gola Nadi, is a small hillock near the Bhimeshwar temple.
Hidimba Parvat is situated at a distance of 5 kms from the Bhimtal Lake. There is also a small wildlife sanctuary near the hillock.
There is also a very famous Nag temple on the Karkotaka hill that attracts many devotees especially during the festival of Rishi Panchami.
