Jaipur as all of Rajasthan, is a very colourful city and the list of things to do and see here is long. The heritage lover in you will enjoy the City Palace and its museum that houses a cache of priceless artefacts. A drive past the pink Hawa Mahal gives you an insight of how protected the court ladies were as the many windows that line the face is from where they peeked at the world without being seen themselves.
Standing guard over the city like sentinels are the famed Amber Fort and the Jaigarh Fort – the architecture is striking in the Sheesh Mahal at Amber and the Jaigarh Fort holds the biggest cannon in the world and is definitely a must see.
Once done with the sightseeing, head to the markets for shopping. Silver jewellery and beautiful sarees and textiles as well as handicrafts are souvenirs to take back home. Get a taste of the local Rajasthani cuisine at the restaurants and do order dal bhatti churma and laal maas – the specialties.
Enjoy watching puppet shows and folk dance in Jaipur. Many hotels and resorts of Jaipur organize puppet shows for the entertainment of the guests. Chokhi Dhani and Alsisar Haveli are some among them.
