Activities in Rajasthan

Camel Safari, Angling, Boating, Para-Sailing, Trekking, and Golfing are some of the outdoor activities that the state of Rajasthan has to offer.

Angling

Jai Samand Lake near Sariska is a man made lake that offers angling opportunities for travellers. River Kosi in Ramgarh, Jaipur offers wide variety of fish and is a delight for the keen anglers. Other angling spots include Mansarover near Sariska, Jaisamand in Alwar and Bandh Baretha in Bharatpur. Travellers can acquire necessary permission from the Fisheries Department. Travellers can carry their own equipments for fishing or can have an option of hiring them from the shops providing the same at reasonable charges. Make sure you have a lot of patience as this activity requires a lot.

Boating

Boating in Nakki Lake is one of the more charming attractions here. There are usual row boats at Nakki, a few motor boats and paddle boats. You can wander close to the forested ridges of the lake. Binoculars is a must carry. It is best to take a ride early in the morning with a boatman.

Camel Safaris

You can witness a number of camels and people enjoying camel rides in the midst of the Thar Desert so, if you wish to explore the surrounding areas in a more adventurous way then the best way is through a camel safari. Camel Safaris is mostly done in the regions of Bikaner, Osian, Jaisalmer and Khimsar. The ideal time to enjoy this outdoor activity is in the months between November and March when the temperatures are cool with pleasant weather. Carry sun tan lotion, a hat to protect yourself from direct sun, sun glasses, chips to munch and a camera.

Golfing

The Rambagh Golf Course in Jaipur, Rajasthan is a favourite among tourists. There are many facilities available at he club for the golfers.

Para-Sailing

The major para-sailing areas in Rajasthan are – Jaipur, Jaisalmer, Udaipur, Bikaner and Jodhpur. Make sure you go for a professional gliding school that will ensure you a safe fly. The fly is very refreshing and you won’t be disappointed- as this activity is a real stress buster. The necessary equipments that travellers require at the time of para-sailing are life jackets, helmets, a rope and a harness along with a wind meter to detect the velocity of the winds. Do carry suntan lotion and glasses. The best time to go for this activity is in summers and winters, however monsoons should be best avoided.

Trekking

There are some good trekking spots in Rajasthan. Mt. Abu is the ideal peak for hiking which lies 13000 meters above the sea level and Guru Shikhar is the highest peak in the Aravalli Range. Kumbhalgarh in the Aravalli Range is also a good option for trekkers. The best time to go trekking in Rajasthan is in the months between November and February and then again in mid September to October.
