India >> Rajasthan>Best Time to Visit Rajasthan |
|
| |
|
Though it can be a year round destination, the best time to visit Rajasthan is in winter, between October to March when the desert sun is not so intense and the days are cool and pleasant. Most of the desert festivals planned as tourist attractions are also held in winter. For travellers heading to the hills of Mt. Abu, the summer months of May, June and July are good. The desert also comes to life after the monsoon in the months from July to September when the hills are clothed in green and have a charm of their own.

Climate
Rajasthan has a wide range of climatic variations with extremes of hot and cold in the desert areas, and relatively moderate climate in the hilly areas of the south. In Jaisalmer the summer temperatures could go up to 47° C and down to minus 1° C in winter! On an average day temperatures reach a high of 44°/46° C in the peak of summer, in May, June and July but fortunately the evenings are cooler and there is a palpable drop in night temperatures. Similarly, the winter temperatures can go lower than 0° C.
